The Future of Outroversion

... Is good :D

Just wanted to do a quick post on what's coming up on the blog. On the back of the success of my halloween mixtape i'm going to do a christmas one too, it's looking good so far. Will continue doing the albums of the past year but in addition to that i'm going to be doing a lot of posts over the course of the next few months wrapping up the past decade so that includes the albums of the last 10 years but the main thing is the artists that shaped 2000-2009. I've compiled my list and it doesn't include lady gaga, the strokes, franz ferdinand, muse, coldplay or kings of leon so as you can imagine it's going to be pretty amazing. There's ben gibbard, dr. dre, mark oliver everitt, frank turner, dev hynes, conor oberst and about 30 others it's going to be epic.

In fact I think i'll post the whole list here and then put links to the articles as I do them...

Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, All time quarterback)
Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk)
Marshall Mathers (Eminem)
Frank Turner
Brandon Flowers (The Killers)
Mark Oliver Everitt (The Eels)
Anthony Kiedis/Flea/John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Pete Doherty (The Libertines)
Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse)
Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys/Last Shadow Puppets)
Nick Cave (Grinderman/Bad Seeds)
Amy Winehouse
Bic Runga
Noel and Liam Gallagher (Oasis)
Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy)
Bryce Avery (Rocket Summer)
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Them Crooked Vultures)
Shawn Corey Carter (Jay-Z)
Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley)
Devonte Hynes (Lightspeed Champion)
Kate Jackson (The Long blondes/Madame Ray)
Emily Haines (Metric/Broken Social Scene)
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Thom Yorke (Radiohead)
Billy Joe Armstrong (Greenday/Foxboro Hottubs)
Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz)

If there's anyone you think i'm missing out i'll either put them in or tell you why they're not going to be included. This is going to go on until at least January for I want to do pretty thorough posts for each person.

Controversial Decision

Recently while writing notes for my blog I mused over doing a post about pop music that's on my ipod because believe it or not, there is some. I dig some pop music but I confess that I can't really tell whether rihanna's music is actually good or whether I just like it because she's mind-blowingly hot.

Fact of the matter is, pre 2003 when I started to listen to good music I listened to alot of mainstream stuff, I was into rap and therefore have N*sync's track they did with nelly on there, I have justin timberlake's justified which I even recorded onto cassette at the time oh god... Yeah time's change but I don't think my radar would be quite so refined if I hadn't gone through that stage.

Bottom line is, I'm syncing my ipod later on and this rihanna track is going on there as well as robbie williams' new album. I haven't heard either but that's why pop music is so successful because you don't have to, you just get told what to think by everyone else.

Radiohead and the hollow earth theory

This might on the surface seem like an insane, abstract, loosely linked and perhaps pointless post but man it's been coming!

Feeling pulled apart by horses/Hollow earth

I like reading about crackpot theories but my favourite thing is to read about stories that have some supposedly credible "high up in the military guy who has since been fired and sworn to secrec" accounts whether this be the dark side of the moon theory, the city in the sky or gateways in tibet. The reason I dig them is I view them as fiction and it gives you a bit of escapism thinking man if all this is going on then this bullshit world is actually kind of irrelevant :)

This theory comes about when a guy ventured to the centre of the earth a few hundred years ago, came back, went crazy, told a guy about it on his death bed who then wrote a book about it. This book is available on the net, it's called the smokey god and is a really pleasant read about a eutopia within our own world. Also supposed Nasa proof. Wikipedia.

I haven't listened to the songs by the way which is why I said at the start this blog might seem a little pointless. ha.
